To store your tractor after harvest is complete, you’ll need to perform a few tasks to make sure that your tractor is ready to operate with a minimum of preparation when it’s time to use the tractor again.
To prepare your tractor for off-season storage:
- If the tractor is charging, disconnect the charger.
- Clean radiator covers to remove any debris.
- Wash the tractor with soap and water, including the roof and the underbody. Do not use a pressure washer.
- Check bolts and nuts for looseness and tighten if needed.
- Remove any ballast weights installed on the front of the tractor.
- Add air to the tires, increasing the pressure so the psi is higher than usual:
- Front Left without ballast: 45psi
- Front Right without ballast: 45psi
- Rear left: 20psi-25psi (Dependent on presence of inner ballast)
- Rear right: 20psi-25psi (Dependent on presence of inner ballast
- Clean and lubricate grease fittings using a grease gun.
- Remove the toolbox to access the 12V battery. First, switch the battery off. Then remove the ground cable from the battery.
- Jack the tractor up and place jack stands under the front and rear axles so that all four tires are off the ground.
- Store the tractor indoors in a dry area that is protected from sunlight and heat. If the tractor must be stored outdoors, cover it with a waterproof tarp.
To start up your tractor after storage:
- Reinstall the 12V battery ground cable. Switch the battery on.
- Connect the charger to the tractor. Charge the tractor for 24 hours (ideally) or at least several hours before you’re planning to use it.
- Once the tractor has been charged enough to power it on, spool up the tractor.
- Check for firmware and software updates to Wingspan AI. Accept all updates allow them to install.
- Note: If the tractor doesn’t have a strong connection to Wingspan in its storage location, you may need to drive the tractor to a better location to install updates.
- Check hydraulic fluid level and coolant add any if needed.
- Check tire air pressure and add air if tires are low.
- Jack the tractor up, then remove the jack stands from the front and rear axles.
